In practice, the cancellation is usually initiated by the landlord. After the end of the tenancy, the landlord confirms that no outstanding claims exist and officially releases the surety bond.

Send the cancellation confirmation
Send your landlord's cancellation confirmation to cancellation@gocaution.ch.

Await the property handover
The landlord checks after the handover whether any claims exist.

Release by the landlord
The landlord completes the surety certificate, signs it and sends it by email to cancellation@gocaution.ch.

Contract termination
Upon receipt of the release, the termination is usually processed within 1–2 working days. All parties receive a confirmation.
Gut zu wissen
Without the landlord's release, the surety contract remains in force – just as with a traditional rent deposit at a bank.
