As with a rent deposit account, the landlord must release the rental deposit after the tenancy has ended, provided they have no claims to assert.
The release is effected by completing and signing the surety certificate. It can be sent to goCaution by email as a scan to cancellation@gocaution.ch – a postal original is not required.
Without the landlord's confirmation, the contract cannot be terminated. However, the surety bond ends automatically if the landlord fails to assert their claims legally within twelve months (Art. 257e OR).
